STREETS of New York

Filled with heart-throbbing feet

And a thundering applause for life

They came from sunrise to sunset

From the east to the west.

Sooner they disappear and what is left

Are remnants of a busy and a long day

And traces of dreams unable to stop

In the streets of New York, the highways of life.

The sun sometimes, in full splendor, sleeps

Or halts to shine in awesome power and might

Because a heart is bleeding and is lost

Amidst the tall skyline that paints New York.

When music joins the falling leaves

That used to color the scene of people

A soul is lifted high above this highway

Sometimes looking for a lullabye to make you rest.

Many a story has been written

Many a legend has been borne

And all things will come to pass

But the highways remain for ages to come.
